I thought I would post a few of my favorite pictures of my Christmas break so far. It's only been a couple days - but we have wasted no time having fun!

…. aaaand riding 3 hours from Salt Lake in the car like this. It was lucky it was between two of my very favorite people in the whole world.

I am loving on this no homework time. This next week I can already tell is going to be fantastic.

First of all, to my two or three faithful readers… sorry about the hiatus! This has been the busiest four months ever. But they are over! I am hoping I remember this little blog a little bit more now that I have some time (at least for the next couple weeks!)

Things I am looking forward to over the next few months:

1. Spending time with my family - especially the tiny's (Bella and Sofia)!

2. Taking BATHS. One of my favorite things.

3. Reading books. I love reading books that don't have practice problems after each chapter!

4. Student Teaching! I am done with classes and I start student teaching in January at Diamond Fork Jr. High in Spanish Fork! I get to teach 9th grade math and I couldn't be more excited!

5. Playing sports! I am going to play on a basketball and soccer intramural team this next year - and I am pumped.

6. Watching One Tree Hill - my new t.v. addiction.

7. Having all my old favorite series start up again in January. (Confessions of a t.v. junkie).

8. Playing the piano. I will actually have time for this!

9. Sleeping in a comfy bed.

10. The NBA starting back up. Awesome.

…. and those are just to name a few! I know those mostly sound like lazy/loungey things but I think I just need the break from thinking!

Hopefully next time you check in I'll have had time to post about a new adventure!

Uncle Blair

Yesterday at 6:15 p.m. our sweet Uncle Blair, my dad's older brother, left all of his pain and was reunited with his Father and his Eternal Father in Heaven. He had fought a long hard fight and was able to be victorious over his pain in the end. He is no longer suffering and I know he is watching over his family now. He was the happiest, nicest man to be around despite all of his trials. I have so many great memories of Uncle Blair. His wife Aunt Debbie and all of his kids and grandchild are in my thoughts and prayers. Love you guys. Love you Uncle Blair.

Twins!

I'm excited to post about the TWINS! They came and made a surprise visit these past couple weeks. BEST SURPRISE EVER! We had so much fun with Hilary and Jordan and their little tinies - Bella (aka Belly) and Sofia (aka Sofie Mofie).

Here are just a few pictures to show you how much fun we had!

Here are the girls on their way to see us! (Hil and Jord sent this to us when they were in the airport… Can you imagine how excited we got to squeeze those little ones?!)

A large percentage of the time we would find both of them cuddling up to Grandma Allyson (Nana).

Today as I was cleaning out my drawers and closets, I happened upon some of my favorite memories of all time - my high school dance pictures! I rummaged through them and was able to find pictures from every dance. They are so fun, I figured it was necessary to scan them so I had digital copies. Then I decided I would blog them for your (but mostly my) viewing pleasure! Enjoy.

Girls Choice

"A Night on the Nile" with Tanner. Our shirts said "Who's Your Mummy?" This was my first girls choice dance, and it was so much fun!

"Vegas, City of Lights" with Steven. Our shirts had our dates names on the front, written in dice. Then the back said "That's How I Roll." Clever, right?!

"Cops & Robbers" with Nic! Shirts said "I Shot the Sheriff, But I Didn't Shoot…" Dinner was at Bethany's and the decorations were better than those at the dance!

"The Luck of the Irish" with Andrew. The shirts for this read "At the End of the Rainbow I Found…" We thought we were clever with our rainbow shirts!

Commencement

This was my very first formal dance "Everybody Wang Chung Tonight," it was with Spencer, and it was awesome! Yes - you did see me wear this dress to another dance below. Disclaimer: They were a year apart, and let's be honest… that dress is bangin'!

"A Night to Remember" with Austin. Loved this dress. He asked me the cutest of any dance. It involved a Teddy Bear and literally hundreds of chocolate kisses!

This was my very last formal dance, "A Walk to Remember." Who better to go with than Brian? He told me his suit color so I could match my dress to it. He was that excited about it!

Senior Ball

"Star Struck" with Carter. Loved this dance. I also loved how he asked me - there was a bag of peanuts with a poster that said… can you guess? Probably not. …"Ali, because I'm nuts… will you go to Senior Ball with me?!" Haha, classic Carter, so funny. I loved it. Also, please notice Shelby's dress in the group picture (it is the mint green one). That was my Grandma Dot's high school Prom dress. How neat is that!?

"A Night of Espionage" with Cory. Favorite part: When we were dancing and I lost Cory, I looked down and found him in the splits on the floor. He did it intentionally - it was just one of his better dance moves!

Homecoming

"A Moment in Time" with Jeremy. This was a lot of fun, Hilary also won Miss Tri-Counties this night!

Without a doubt this was my favorite dance and favorite dress. "Back in Black" with Spencer! My club was in charge of this dance, and we did an amazing job if I do say so myself! I also picked out the picture backdrops! They are pretty neat, aren't they?!

Rummage Romp

This was the at the end of the year - the dress code was anything you could find at the rummage sell. As you can see, we always looked real classy.

Turkey Trot

This was our Pilgrims and Indians dance that we had late November - it was always very fun!

Fishing

Over 4th of July weekend, we went camping and fishing! It was really fun, but I think it is best described in pictures… so, here they are!

Well, a few weeks ago my good friend Katherine Welch entered the MTC. Me, being full of good ideas, decided it would be fun to leave her a note on the grounds to find. I told her the day I would do it and the general area, and the rest was up to her. Katherine, being a good friend, agreed to go along with it. Well the day came and I wrote a silly 2 line note. Then I made all of my roommates and a few friends sign it. Just so she felt more loved. We proceeded to go hide it in the designated area…. clearly not thinking about consequences. I mean, what harm was there in a short nice note?

Well, I got a letter from Katherine today. This is what it said.
   "So, funny story. On Saturday, I was on the south end of the MTC, and convinced my companion to let me look for your note really quick, but I couldn't find it. Then Sunday, my branch president calls me into an interview with him and says, "what do you know about a note?" and I said "A doctor's note?" (because he's a doctor, and I was sick on Saturday) and he said, 'no. just a note that security found and that they currently have in their office." Me: "….. Oh. That note."
   "hahaha! It was funny. Not at the time when I had to explain everything to him, but now it is. He thought it would have been form a boyfriend, but nope. It was just from my awesome friend Ali. Oh boy.
   "So from now on, please send mail to the address on my blog. Thanks :)."

Ahahahaha……. oops. Guess it wasn't the best idea I've ever had.

Rag Rug

Remi and I decided to spend our Saturday night watching Julie and Julia and making friendship bracelets. A classic summer activity. Me - being ambitious - decided to make the 'totem pole' bracelet the other day. I'm still not finished (I don't recommend, it takes for.ev.er.) So, Saturday I decided to give up on my other one and make a new one with the 'Rag Rug' pattern. It was finished by the time the movie was over - therefore I love it. I also love that movie.

Here are some pictures of my new ankle adornment.

I think it captures the 'Rag Rug' look!

I debated putting an ankle picture up - but it was impossible to take a pretty one. Maybe next time.

Seven Smoothie

Hello.

I created a delicious smoothie this morning, so I thought I would share the recipe.

Try it, you won't regret it. It is just that good.

7 - Fresh Raspberries 7 calories
1/2 - Banana cut in to 7 pieces 53 calories
7 - 1' slices of Celery 1 calorie
7 oz - of Cran-Grape Juice 122 calories
1 - baby carrot (you can cut it into 7 pieces if you want) 4 calories
1 - 4 oz cup of Applesauce 50 calories
7 - small ice cubes 0 calories
Total: 237 calories

Simply blend all of the ingredients together.

Finding Mercy

This book.. Finding Mercy by Blaine M. Yorgason

I would say that this was also a decent book. It was definitely not what I was expecting - but I think I liked it better than what I was expecting. The part I didn't like was that the main character was Mexican, and so there were a lot of phrases in Spanish. I don't read Spanish, so it got confusing sometimes! Other than that, it was a great read. I think I would recommend it. Funny story about it. I was reading it one night and a boy dropped by my house to ask me on a date for the next day. He looked at what I was reading and said, 'hey, my uncle wrote that!' Haha, small world!

I've decided I want to blog all of the books I read this year. Starting with John Grisham's Playing for Pizza. I like giving my opinions on books, plus… I like remembering what I have read!

So here is what I think about this one:

Good book. Haha. It is a pretty decent book. I wouldn't place it on my top 10 favorite books ever, but it was well written (of course, it is John Grisham). The story line is interesting, and there were times when I would keep reading and postpone other things. I would say, if you have time… not a bad read!

Finals

I have a love hate relationship with these. I love them because it means the semester is over! I hate them because it means I have to spend hours and hours studying - and I have the attention span of a gold fish (hence why I'm blogging).

However, I have had some really good ideas with how to spend my time for the summer. I want to be as productive as I can. Some of these plans include work out schedules, practicing cooking (contradictory?!) and writing music.

I am definitely looking forward to next Thursday when I am HOME in Idaho for a tiny minute with NO homework and nothing to stress about for a good five days! I just need to keep looking forward! ALMOST THERE!

Discovery

Lately I have found something out that I should have realized literally YEARS ago. When you stay on campus and try hard to study - YOU GET THINGS DONE!

I know what you are thinking… but I promise it's true. In the past four days I've gotten more done than I've even thought possible. In my free time I've found time play a lot of basketball and watch even more Grey's Anatomy. I also learned how to freeze broccoli for up to a year and I've cooked some decent meals.

Why did I not figure this out years ago!

Pazookie Night!

Last night was my second official "Pazookie Night" (the first one was attached to my Miss America Party!) This one was intended for IF people (quite a few of them were already busy…) We made pazookies and then just talked for a little bit. It was way fun, and really fattening. I'm the worst studier that ever lived. I'm sitting in the Library, and I have been here for 3 hours. I've only managed to choke down 4 math sections and a take home test. Probably about 1/4 of what I should have done by now. So what do I do? Blog :)

Winter has officially turned my hands in to those of an 80 year old Grandma. Pretty gross, and painful. BUT, what can you do?

So, this Thanksgiving we decided to start a new little tradition competition.

What is it you ask? Oh… just a flexibility competition.

Was it a tiny bit unfair since we have a ballerina, a dance depot team member and two former cheerleader/drill teamers?

Well, you can judge that for yourself.

Let's just say we were pleasantly surprised by how flexible some of the adults are!

This past week or so I've been staying up a little past my bed time to read a book. This seems mostly nerdy, but it is a big deal. I always get up before 6 a.m. so staying up any later than I have to, mostly not worth it. For this however, totally worth it!

I finally finished the 3rd Fablehaven book! I am in love with these books. They are very quick, entertaining reads that are just pure fun. If you don't believe me… try it yourself!

The Social Network

Last night wasn't a good night. So what did I do? Went to see a movie about friends. Yes I saw The Social Network. Can I just say how awesome this movie was!? The story line was so easy to get into and I literally watched the whole thing (which is a big deal because I lose attention pretty fast). The only thing that I was disappointed in was that it was rated PG-13 and it was pretty inappropriate. There were a lot of scantily dressed girls and the swearing was not necessary. With out those to massive flaws, this could have been a very aw-inspiring movie.

The lesson I learned from it was don't short yourself of anything in life. We are capable of incredible things. When things seem like they aren't going well, there is always some way to make them 100% better. Life is going to be hard, but it is up to us individually to make it great.

Two weeks of school are now over, and what do I have to show for it?

A whole BUNCH of math problems. … bleh.

I needed to blog because boy did I need a break from studying.

Right now I am enjoying a Pumpkin Jamba… so, so good.

Also, I'm thinking about the TWINS that are coming any day!!!! Couldn't be more excited!

Dad's First Time Baking!

Dad decided today that he wanted to have a reputation as being an outstanding baker. To accomplishing this feat he thought he should start by baking something. Good idea, right? Well one would think you would start out with box brownies, or chocolate chip cookies. Not dad, he chose to make homemade raisin filed cookies for his first try.

No surprise - they turned out amazing! They took forever though, but job well done dad! Probably the best raisin filled cookies we've ever eaten! (You were also very entertaining to watch while baking for the first time!)

Needless to say, my father is AMAZING!

…and I'm a TV-aholic.

It's true.
So basically I used to watch too much TV since I get done working at around oh… 12.

I've since cut back to 3 shows. Huge, Pretty Little Liars, and Prison Break.

Yesterday I finished Prison Break. Loved it.

Today was Huge, and I made this post because I loved this quote from it.

"Getting what we always wanted, can sometimes be very scary. It's often, just as things are going really well, that we will sabotage ourselves. So just be aware. There may be a self destructive part of us that doesn't want us to get better, that's more comfortable with pain. So remember, the more willing we are to look at this destructive part of ourselves, the less power it will have over us."

Even though this was in reference to losing weight… I think it can apply to a lot of things. Maybe I can learn something from my addiction? (Ok, probably not.)

Guiltiest Pleasure

I can say without a doubt, that these are my guiltiest pleasure! Mint Chocolate Tuffles. It makes me sad to think that my favorite chocolate foundry is in Sun Valley Idaho, and I will not be going this year. First time in 20 years. No one makes a mint truffle as good as the 'candy shop.' This week however, the ones from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory have done just fine!

Friday night I did pulled pork sandwiches ...

I thought they were pretty good, but in the oh so tender words of Chase "they have too many vegetables." ... So there you have it.

Saturday I decided to do breakfast, so what did I choose?

These little muffin's ... there were a couple that got eaten before I could take the picture! ... They all disappeared, so I took that as a good sign!

Today, because of the dreary weather we have been having, my mother suggested I go for some soup.

...and it was seriously the best soup EVER! I was quite proud of it. Remi Mae helped me with it, so maybe she has the special touch or something... what ever it was, it was gooood! (oh, and it called for *minced* garlic... good thing I know what the word minced means :] ) ... If you would like the recipes for any of these, let me know! So worth it on the soup...

Also ... today is AUNT CELIAS BIRTHDAY! Happy Birthday Aunt C. :) LOVE YOU!

2 cups “And Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty measures of fine ____” (1 Kgs. 4:22)
1 teaspoon “Take thou also unto thee principal spices, … and of sweet ____ half so much” (Ex. 30:23)
1 teaspoon “Ye are the ____ of the earth” (Matt. 5:13)
1/2 teaspoon “The kingdom of heaven is like unto ____ (Matt. 13:33)

So ... I haven't updated in a while ... but this is the past couple weeks in review - picture style.

I got to go home a little while ago and celebrate mine and my Father's Birthday with the family!

Saturday Morning Saylor, Savannah, and I flew kites, then they took me out for Birthday Sundaes!

We also went to Dinner with the whole extended family!

THEN .. A few days later was my actually Birthday - I got to go to dinner with the Roommates and my High School friends and Hilary!

... and I also received these BEAUTIFUL flowers, easily the prettiest, and largest arrangement of flowers I've ever gotten in my life.

The week just kept on getting better too! Melissa came down with her husband, and I got to see her!

We went shopping and had a Birthday dinner - it was SO fun!

So, Sometimes I get an idea of a drawing I want to do in my head. A few days ago, this happened. I haven't had time until now to do it though (I took a test Sat. Mon. Tue and Wed. ... sick). Anyway, since I finally had some free time, I decided to do it. First though, I needed to take a picture of what I wanted to draw... me. I wanted to do sort of an eery pic. too. I hate falling, because no matter how much I pretend like it didn't hurt. It always does. Like today, when I pretended to be brave, but really I just wanted to cry.

Examples:

When I fell out of the car at girls choice. No one saw, and this was the smaller of the MULTIPLE bruises and scrapes that I got. I had to run into the dance and pretend like I hadn't just slid down the side of a car.

Or... This time, when I was practicing for my clogging test, and I chugged on the wrong texture of floor. (except I really did cry this time)

OR today, when I slipped on THIS puddle

and got THIS injury (it doesn't look that bad, but trust me, it hurts) and Katherine was right there, so I had to act tough.

The point of this? A. I either need to stop falling.

B. I need to learn to be able to cry when I fall, because I want to EVERY time!

WHY did I spend 30 minutes this morning ... Showering ... Applying Product ... Blow Drying ... Straightening ... AND ... Styling my hair JUST so it could SNOW this afternoon and get ruined on my SHORT walk from the Math Building to the LIBRARY! (For those of you unfamiliar with BYU's campus - that is approximately 100 ft or LESS!) Now my hair looks disgusting, and I basically wasted 30 minutes of precious studying time. (Not to mention the 10 more minutes I'm wasting on my blog :) ).

All I have to say is - Thank You Utah.

OH (and Tegan, it probably wouldn't have snowed if you didn't ask me if I thought it would any more this morning. I guess to you I can say - I told you so - unfortunately)

I have been thinking lately... I have a LOT of things that I am grateful for, and they simply reasons to be happy. Here are just are 4 of them.

- I LOVE LOVE LOVE being at school right now. My classes are AWESOME! I'm obsessed with linear algebra. It is great.

- I have the most AMAZING friends. End of story.

- I bought a Kite yesterday. I flew my kite yesterday. AND it is beginning to feel like SPRING!

- I'm drinking Cranberry juice right now. YUM.

and this is just to name a FEW.

I find when I look for reasons to be happy, I notice there are hundreds. I've started thinking of these every morning - and continue thinking them throughout the day. I really am very blessed and it is good to remember why and be grateful for it. I dare you to think of 5 things in your life that you are grateful for. I can almost promise you, these 5 reasons will make you happy for the rest of the day.

I work in Spanish Fork. And I have the best job ever. Anyway, today I was driving back to Provo after working, and getting some good eats (wow, saying that makes me miss Megan, Bethany and Craig all at once) at Berry's. What is dumb about this story? The part where I got LOST coming back to Provo. I guess any of you that have ever been in a car with me behind the wheel, know that I am terrible at directions. But, I HAVE MADE THIS DRIVE BEFORE! ... more than once. (too embarrassed to say how many times). Pathetic. That is the only word I can sum this all up with.

Cranberry Juice and Scorpians

Tonight Chase and I decided to run to get some Taco Bell and then stop at a gas station for drinks. This is a list of things I learned from the experience.

1. Cranberry Juice is SO SO SO good. Easily my favorite drink. Yum.

2. Don't diss on scorpion suckers. I did. Bad idea. The guy at the cash register was not happy about that. Interrogated me on my experience with them. Didn't approve. And then I was quickly lectured on how good they are. Let's be honest - karo syrup covered scorpions on a stick? SICK.

3. Lastly - I found out that it is REALLY easy to laugh, when I am in a good mood. There was a guy walking his dog .. sort of. I got a good minute long laugh out of the part where the guy was actually tugging because the dog felt like that was a good place to sit.

It was really quite an eventful trip.

OH and did I mention the part where I AM SO HAPPY/LUCKY to be with the fam? Because I am.

My Father's Birthday...

So.. yesterday my father turned.. not very old :) AND today I got to drive down to Saint George to spend the weekend with the family! WOOHOO. We had dinner tonight with all seven of us (plus Jordan's parents) and it was wonderful. We have not been together since CHRISTMAS! And I loved every minute of it.

Back to the reason for this post.. A BIRTHDAY!

Art Saved The Day...

So, before you read this post... If you haven't read my post entitled LUCK. click here and read that first.

Anyway, today while I was sitting in my Humanities class studying some artists, I was doodling at the same time. I was really enjoying myself. I love art, I loving learning about art, and I love drawing. So I started thinking... Lately I have really been contemplating a minor. I seriously want one. Art has been in my top four choices. So I thought I might as well, right then and there, re-look at the requirements for an art minor again.

Before I took out my computer, I realized how disrespectful that would be to look that up in the middle of a well prepared lecture. So, I thought I should probably be more sneaky about it. So I went to take out my ipod to do it on there.

To my complete dismay it was NOT in my backpack. I panicked. Thinking through my day, I realized the only placed I could have left it was the library. The LIBRARY! Seriously - probably the most occupied building on campus. Even worse, the only place I had been in the library was the Periodicals! (the place where I swear EVERYONE is).

With a sick feeling in my stomach, I jolted out of class and ran to the library. Only to FIND my ipod wedged between the seat cushion in the chair I had been sitting in. I quickly slipped back into class with a huge, relieved smile on my face.

So I feel ridiculously lucky this morning. Why? ... This is why.

Last night I lost my ipod touch (side note - I got it for Christmas). I didn't realize it until this morning though.

Well, when I couldn't find it any where in the house, I panicked.

So I started retracing my steps.

I hadn't really done anything last night except go to Scotty's Drive In with the family, and then I went over to Shelby's house. I looked both my mom's car and my car clean through.

I searched my house over from top to bottom like ... mmmm ... ten times! I called Shelby and had her on the hunt through her entire house. Nothing. My last idea, call Scotty's. The man that answered the phone was real nice - but no luck. My mom told me I should still go look at Scotty's anyway. So I did.

HOW LUCKY CAN ONE PERSON BE?

My ipod was IN THE PARKING LOT. UNDER a car. Snow Covered.

I CRAWLED under the car and grabbed it. IT STILL WORKS!

Funny story.

So, today I was sitting in my Math 290 class, like I do every Mon. Wed. and Fri. from 12 -1. While listening to the lecture on how to prove if a limit is continuous on a function, the nice boy behind me ... let's call him Brad Smith ... kindly tells me that I can have some of his chocolate covered peanuts. So I turned and thanked him and ate some. He noted that they were extra good, and that they were from his Grandma, the conversation that followed went something like this...

(Side note, earlier last month, Brad had told me his Grandparents were from my home town...)

Me: Your Grandma from Idaho Falls?

Brad: Yep

... a little time passes...

Me: What are your Grandparent's last name?

Brad: Walker

Me: What is your Grandma's first name?

Brad: (I can't actually remember what he said her name was)

Me: Oh, ... What is your Grandpa's name?

Brad: Owen.

Me: Is he alive.

Brad: Yes..

.... Some more time passes.

Me: I'm pretty sure we are like second cousins or something.

Laughing from the surrounding listeners.

Well, the moral of the story is as follows: If your last name is Walker, or you know you have relatives with that name - be sure to compare family tree's before you consider seriously dating, because as Brad and I found out today - you just never know who is your cousin (Especially on BYU's campus!)

B. Today I was in the Wilk.. in the automatic bathroom. Seriously. Everything is automatic. Anyway, the toilet paper is automatic too. And as I was in there, I heard this lady say "My automatic dispenser is broken, could someone pass me some t.p.? .. I'm in ... Here ... " I secretly wish I wasn't detained so I could have seen how she flagged herself. Bummer.

Seriously, who knew that one of THESE puppies could be so DANGEROUS!

This morning, I was innocently round brushing my hair - like I do, when I decided to put the blow dryer in between my legs while I repositioned the round brush in my hair. *Note - The reason I didn't put it on my counter is because I was using the outlet far away from the counter because the outlet next to our sink is WORTHLESS. Anyway, my knees started getting REALLY HOT. So naturally I release, and the blow dryer falls to the ground. THEN... I SMELL something so Disgusting. I look down and to my amazement, my BLOW DRYER BURNT a HOLE in my ROBE! .. True story. Now our vanity area smells like burnt robe. Sick.
